BRIGHTON: WELBECK PROVES HIS QUALITY
Brighton and Hove Albion attacker Danny Welbeck has been able to prove his quality during a difficult time at the club. The Seagulls were in danger of falling into the relegation zone in the Premier League when Welbeck stepped up to make the difference and lead his team away from the relegation places on the log.
The bottom three teams will drop into the English Championship at the end of this campaign and the Seagulls were fourth bottom at that stage with 26 points, the same tally with the Cottagers as pointed out earlier.
Danny Welbeck played a prominent role for the Seagulls who would go on to win their next two league games to move six points clear of Fulham at the bottom of the log. The former Arsenal and Sunderland attacker provided the assist for the winning goal scored by Leandro Trossard to lead the Seagulls to a 2-1 away win over Southampton.
Brighton made it two successive wins with the 3-0 victory over Newcastle United at home with Danny Welbeck netting the second goal. Trossard and Frenchman Neal Maupay scored the other goals during the game against the Magpies.
Danny Welbeck then made it two goals in two games when he gave Brighton the lead against his former club Manchester United but his team was not able to hold on after the Red Devils came from a goal down to win 2-1 at home. Welbeck had an impressive return of two goals and one assist from three successive starts at that point.
Welbeck didn’t score or assist for the first time in four games when Brighton played out a goalless draw at home to Everton on Monday night. He would be hoping to find the net once again when Brighton visit Chelsea in a league game scheduled for next week.
England international Danny Welbeck has done well for his team in the past weeks. As things stand, the Seagulls are now seven points clear at the bottom of the Premier League table.
