WELBECK SECURES NEW CONTRACT AT BRIGHTON

England international Danny Welbeck attracted interest from several clubs before he made the decision to extend his stay at Brighton and Hove Albion. The former Arsenal and Manchester United striker signed a new one-year contract with the Seagulls just before his previous deal ended last month. He would have been available as a free agent at the end of June.

He was one of the best players for the Seagulls in the Premier League. Danny Welbeck produced an attacking return of six goals plus three assists in 24 league outings for Brighton last season.

WELBECK TO MISS FA CUP TIE

Brighton and Hove Albion attacker Danny Welbeck is set to miss the FA Cup fourth round tie with English League One club Blackpoolthis weekend as he’s still recovering from a knee injury that made him miss the last two games in the Premier League. Danny Welbeck was absent for the league defeat at Manchester City and the league win at Leeds United. Danny Welbeck was not in the Brighton and Hove Albion team that lost 1-0 at Manchester City through England international Phil Foden.


The only goal of the match came just before half-time as the Seagulls were beaten at the Etihad Stadium. Brighton were able to bounce back from the Manchester City when they travelled to face Premier League newcomers Leeds United at Elland Road. Arsenal and England international striker has been injured in the Europa League match against Sporting Lisbon. He was injured in the 25th minute and had to be carried out on a stretcher. Arsenal head coach Unai Emery said that it was a very serious injury and that they will need to wait for the medical team report to find out more about the injury.
