Arsenal manager Unai Emery has refused to be critical about Petr Cech’s performance despite the goalkeeper struggling to cope with the new style of play. The 36-year-old does not possess ball-playing attributes as one of his key strengths and this has created several nervy moments including one at Cardiff where he gifted Harry Arter a clear goalscoring opportunity.
Arsenal forward Danny Welbeck has tipped Jack Wilshere to go on to the next level after leaving the Emirates Stadium. The England striker said he was gutted to see him teammate leave the north London club but then he understood the reason for the decision.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Danny Welbeck is one of four stars ruled out of contention until after the upcoming international break. Back-up goalkeeper David Ospina and defenders Calum Chambers and Shkodran Mustafi make up the remainder of the quartet.
For Welbeck, it is the latest in the procession of injuries that have plagued his career so far at the North London club. He had to come off during the recent 2-1 defeat at Watford with a recurrence of the groin strain which had kept him out previously. Ironically, it was the England striker’s first game back from that injury. It’s a real blow for Wenger who is a big fan of what Welbeck brings to the side. His all-round game perfectly complements the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Alexandre Lacazette and he will be a big miss. Read More
Arsenal are set to make changes to their line-up this January and in the summer after years of stagnation. They have not won the league for eons but now they are now battling to even make the Top Six – a new low for the Gunners.
They have not won the Champions League either and for years they barely got past the Round of 16 but now it’s the Europa League, which they are not even sure of winning. There are reports that Arsene Wenger wants to bring some changes in the team as he is under pressure again. Making profits for the club and adding FA Cups cannot work anymore as the fans want something different. These days people do not expect so much from the Gunners.
Arsenal has opened up on the injuries to players of the club: Mesut Ozil, Danny Welbeck and Laurent Koscielny. The three key players were missing as the Gunners defeated Brighton and Hove Albion 2-0 courtesy of goals from Nacho Montreal and Alex Iwobi.
Coach Arsene Wenger provided the injury update to the stars, adding that the trio would remain at the club throughout the international break as they continue with their recoveries. Welbeck has a groin concern; Ozil has a knee issue while that of the defender is the Achilles.
Arsenal forward Danny Welbeck said that he is ready for the new season.
The England international said that he had had a good pre-season and he is looking forward to having an injury free campaign. He said that the last campaign had been marred by injuries and he is hoping that this time around he will be able to have a sustained run in the team.
Danny Welbeck said that the Arsenal manager has made some interesting signings and that he is sure that the player will strengthen the team. He said that Lacazette appears to be a very good player and has settled well into the team and he is looking forward to partner with him in attack.
The Arsenal forward also believes that SeadKolasinac will be an interesting signing for the Gunners. He said that he had been impressed by the defender’s strength as well as his ability to go forward. He is backing the new Arsenal defender to be a success in the league. Read More
Former Gunners player Robert Pires has asked his compatriot Olivier Giroud to remain at the Emirates Stadium past this summer amid reports that the former Ligue 1 star might exit the club.
Even before the addition of Lyon star Alexandre Lacazette, there were rumours that the Frenchman might leave Arsenal soon.
The player had a mixed performance last term and with the options that Arsene Wenger now has or is working towards having, then Giroud would get more bench time. Wenger is focused on ending his Premier League title drought this term so he wants to retain his best legs like Giroud.
Pires is in agreement that Giroud should not be allowed to leave the club if Arsenal want to lift the title next year. The France football legend added that Alexis Sanchez should not be sold off as well.
“If he [Giroud] stays, it is great news for Arsene Wenger. Now we have four strikers which is important for making the squad competitive. The objective now for Arsenal is to lift the Premier League trophy and in order to do that, you need to have a lot of strikers in your team,” Pires explained. Read More
Danny Welbeck is of the opinion that Alex Oxlade Chamberlain should be positioned in the heart of the midfield because that’s the spot from where he shows his full range as a player.
Oxlade-Chamberlain had joined Arsenal before Welbeck and while the latter is already an established member of the Gunners’ squad, the former has failed to cement his place in the starting XI.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has had the opportunity to play in different positions, but, at neither of the positions has he done enough to encourage Arsene Wenger to persist with him for long.
However featuring for the Three Lions recently as the central playmaker versus the Les Blues, Oxlade-Chamberlain put on a good show despite his team slumping to a loss. Read More
Arsenal forward Danny Welbeck claims that his second major injury last year almost destroyed him as a striker.
Welbeck was just returning from almost a year on the sidelines, when he suffered yet another catastrophic injury news towards the end of last season. The striker was signed for £ 16 million from Manchester United in the summer of 2014. He had spent nine months on the sidelines with his first major injury. His second injury resulted in him in spending a similar amount of time on the treatment table just three months after a successful return. Read More
Arsenal forward Danny Welbeck is set to get his first start this campaign when the Gunners face Southampton this weekend.
Arsenal are playing in the fourth round of the FA Cup and coach Arsene Wenger would continue with his squad rotation policy which is set to see Welbeck make his first start after a long while.
Since his long term knee injury, Welbeck has played 21 minutes in substitute appearances but he is set to start the game against the Saints. Wenger was forced to play the former Red Devils star when Arsenal were on the brink in the game against Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday. With Granit Xhaka continuing his trade craft of getting sent off and the team crumbling Wenger had to send Welbeck in.
Wenger might not even get to watch the game on Saturday pending a misconduct charge from the FA. The French tactician was caught on camera pushing a fourth official after he was sent off the pitch in the dying minutes of the Burnley game. It is unlikely that he would contest the charge but he has until Thursday to respond. Read More
